Dark Horse is a distance mushing sled dog kennel. This means the dogs and I participate in mid-distance races (usually around 300 miles) as well as long distance races (1,000 milers).
Our first 1,000 mile race took place in February of 2018: the infamous Yukon Quest. Dark Horse was proud to take 11th in the Quest, as well as the sportsmanship award. Read about our adventure here. We had our rookie Iditarod in 2020 and placed 25th and were a part of the Elim 11.
In 2022, we overcame some wild odds to finish 33rd in Iditarod. We placed 9th in the 2022 Willow 300, and best of all, we were honored with the Willow humanitarian / vet’s choice award this year.
