The first-born pup of the Pearl Jam themed litter, Jam is one of the most “complete” sled dogs I’ve ever run. In terms of attributes that distance mushers look for he has it all: tough feet, great attitude, appetite, a nice thick and shiny coat, effortless gait, and the perfect size. Jam is one of the smartest dogs in my kennel and at times shows enormous potential in lead. His wit, however, is his downfall in lead, since he knows that when he’s at the helm he can decide if he wants to chase after the occasional moose or grouse that crosses the trail. Jam and his brother Vedder are the power houses of my team. They ran together in wheel for the entire Copper Basin and amazed me with their work ethic and trust in me as we slogged through what seemed to be endless amounts of soft sugary trail in warm temperatures, never skipping a snack and always screaming to go. Jam loves to be held and leaps onto my shoulder (yes shoulder) when called! He’s a special dog and you can sponsor this key player in the race team for the 2018 season!
